0.363 ms latency seems to be close to the theoretical limit, of firewire devices. A good error msg containing this information, when trying to select lower latencies would be good.

Thanks for the note. I agree, either libffado itself or the firewire jack backend should provide an error message if these "impossible" settings are attempted. I'll look into this.

r2107 has an initial implementation of a check against the conditions raised in this ticket and the linked full discussion on lkml. If a problem is detected a message is written to the terminal. I think the check is correct and therefore I'll close this ticket. Please reopen it if there are any remaining issues.
